Stoughton Hospital’s new Medical Imaging addition has been completed and now offers patients

in-house MRI services.  In a joint venture with Shared Imaging Services, Stoughton Hospital

purchased a Siemens 1.5 Tesla MR System to replace the mobile unit previously contracted. 

“We are very proud of the additional services we are able to provide with the growth of our

medical imaging services,” states Terry Brenny, Hospital President and CEO.  “The new MRI

expands our scanning capabilities and appointment access, translating into more convenience

for our patients with fewer referrals to Madison facilities.”

“In addition to being able to scan heads, spines and complete orthopedic exams, we can now

perform chest, abdomen and lower extremity angiography.  MR angiography is a non-invasive

way to view the blood vessels in the body,” explains Dawn Huss, the Lead MRI Technician. 

For claustrophobic and younger patients, the hospital can also offer IV sedation scans.  The

new MRI accommodates patients up to 440 pounds. 

MRI service is available Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm.  Appointments are

usually available within 24 to 48 hours.     

In the expansion of medical imaging services, the hospital has also upgraded its CT scanner

and purchased an in-house bone densitometry unit, replacing the mobile unit previously

contracted.  The hospital will also be adding stereotactic breast core biopsy services

later this summer.
